Deadlands: Biding Our Time for a Better Yesteryear
This is the webpage for my Deadlands campaign. A number of new/modified/splentabulous rules and systems are going to be incorporated. To make them 100% accessible, I’m posting them here.
The campaign will begin in Chicago. PCs will be replying to an advertisement. See the Adventure Log for more information. As a forewarning, the general movement of the campaign will be westward, and will end up in the Maze (that’s California, for those who don’t know).
The following items should be purchased by or accessible to all players. Not everybody needs copies, but having a copy is especially recommended.
The Wiki and Adventure Log Sections: Enough said. You don’t have to know every new rule or statement in there, but the Adventure Log is going to be especially important. Also note that your characters are going to go on this webpage as well.
The Flood Player’s Section: This is available for free as a PDF download from Pinnacle Entertainment, so there’s no excuse for not reading it. It details the Maze and its surrounds, which is the part of North America most dramatically different from our own.
Deadlands: Reloaded Player’s Guide (Print Version): More expensive, but also providing you all of the background information you need, including bringing the setting up to the modern day of 1879. Also note that the previous edition of Deadlands: Reloaded is still good in most respects, although Shamans shouldn’t be made by those rules.
Fantasy Companion: A number of the Powers in there are perfectly useable in Deadlands. However, there’s no requirement for you to use them.
Things Not to Read
Deluge: For some reason, Pinnacle Entertainment thought it would be an excellent idea to publish a novelization of one of their new published campaigns for D:R. To say this is spoileriffic is an understatement.
Deadlands: Reloaded Marshall’s Guide: Not specifically horrible, but it might spoil some of your fun. I will not, however, look at you dimly if you read it. This also applies to the Marshall’s Section of the original printing of Deadlands: Reloaded.
The Flood: Reading the full version of the Flood means reading approximately 60%-70% of the campaign I plan to run.
Other Published Adventures: This includes the $$ versions and the free one-sheets at the Pinnacle Website.
